CLASS OF 2024

Amethyst Koh Hnin Nu Aye recently graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). Amethyst gravitates towards drawing and painting, but is not limited to it. Her recent practice explores photography and installation work. Her works usually stem from a mix of personal experiences and writings as she explores and unpacks a coalescence of topics surrounding womanhood, internet pop culture, and everything in between. Amethyst’s works have been exhibited in The Morgue in the Chelsea College of the Arts (2023), and The Lim Hak Tai gallery (2024). She was awarded the Chip Eng Seng Bursary award (2020), the NAFA Dean’s List award (2020), and the Goh Teng Lin Bursary award (2023). She has also worked at the National Arts Council as a Visual Arts intern (2021).

Ashley Tay Zhien is a creative based and residing in Singapore. Prior to pursuing Fine Arts, she majored in image making in Communication Design at Temasek Polytechnic. Ashley tends to experiment with different mediums, and works on installation works as her main mode of practice due to her obsession and interest with space and time, relative to the human experience and body. She is currently a practising painter and ceramicist and hopes to hone her skills in curating and writing as well. She recently graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore, validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). Ashley’s work has been shown at Arts House (2016), The Morgue in the Chelsea College of Arts (2023), and The Lim Hak Tai Gallery (2024). Ashley also hopes to pursue a MA in Fine Art in the near future and to continue expanding her art practice.

Beh Cui Shan Serene is a visual artist born and based in Singapore. She recently completed her studies as part of the inaugural cohort of the BA (Hons) Fine Art programme at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). Explaining the simple can be challenging because we often underestimate its complexity. In reality, the simple things are often overlooked and undervalued. Beh’s artwork often delves into the intricacies found within the seemingly mundane, bringing a different perspective to the table. She was awarded the Ngee Ann Kongsi Scholarship from 2021-2024. Her artworks have been featured in group exhibitions at venues such as The Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery, The Lim Hak Tai Gallery, Selegie Arts Center, Peace Centre, and the University of the Arts London.

Charlene Andrea Ramos is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Singapore. She is currently pursuing her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, validated by University of the Arts London. Most of Charlene’s works are subconsciously drawn to the politics of identity and the unconscious hierarchies they are subjected to. Having immigrated multiple times at a young age, she draws from her lived experience as a Third Culture Kid, exploring notions of cultural homelessness, and using art to bridge gaps in understanding and to resist the gradual loss of her cultural roots. Her works have been exhibited in multiple group exhibitions which include, ‘Downsizing: The Universe on a String’ (2024) at The Lim Hak Tai Gallery, ‘Women Hold Hold Up Half The Sky’ (2022) with the Crabs in Clams collective as part of ‘An Allegory of Fourths’ (2022) exhibition at NAFA Tower Block & Singapore Council of Women’s Organization (SCWO), ‘NAFA x UAL Student Exhibition’ at Chelsea College of Arts, London, as well as ‘Mercury in Summer’ (2022) at Senso Art Gallery, Malaysia.

Chew Kai Hui, Anthea is currently majoring in BA (Hons) Fine Art at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. She graduated from Singapore Polytechnic in 2019 with a Diploma in Creative Writing for Television and New Media, with a Distinction in Video Production, Principles, and Practice. Anthea is a conceptual multi-disciplinary artist, often using language, motifs, and the banal to create references to philosophy and pop culture. She often deals with sociocultural themes and their effect on youth confusion – while being a little child-like and humorous herself.

Chua Jay Mong is a young artist born in Singapore. She is currently completing the BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Jay Mong is interested in developing painting as a medium through which she might explore the notion of shifting between boundaries, from fantasy to reality, instead of being situated in a singular mode of expression. She makes use of whimsically monstrous subjects and surreal landscapes within her work to express engaging and ambiguous narratives.

Isabelle Lim Ruixin is an aspiring gallery administrator with an interest in education and community-related projects. A resourceful and detail-oriented individual, she is always eager to learn and is constantly seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge base. Equipped with a passion for the art industry and Google Sheets, she is a strong team player who hopes to support Singapore’s art scene in the future.

Julia Looi Yik Chieh is a Singapore-based artist currently pursuing a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Her works have been displayed at the retail business, Shop Weekend Cheoks. She has also assisted in Grey Projects and exhibited at Chelsea College of Arts, London. She uses a variety of mixed-media works – ranging from printmaking and kinetic installations to video work – to immerse viewers into a state of “allatonceness”.

Kenenza Michiko Hasan is a recent BA (Hons) Fine Art graduate from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore – University of the Arts London programme. Her artworks explore the intersections of counter-mapping, cartographic practices, landscape, and socio-political themes. Kenenza has exhibited in group shows at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery, The Lim Hak Tai Gallery, Selegie Arts Center, and venues such Gillman Barracks in Singapore and The Morgue in London. She was also selected as a quarter-finalist for the Student World Impact Film Festival 2023 in the USA. She completed a curatorial and research internship with the National Gallery Singapore and has curated exhibitions such as LASKAR Pelangi 2020 and Terra Incognita: The Alt Show 2022 at Artspace @ Helutrans. Kenenza has received several scholarships and awards, including The Ngee Ann Kongsi Gold Medal 2022 and the Lim Ai Fang Art Prize 2022 by the Woon Brothers Foundation.

Koh Jay Ling Jaclyn is a Singaporean practising artist and aspiring educator who graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore and is currently in her final year of her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at NAFA, validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). She has exhibited her work at “Downsizing: The Universe on A String” (2024) and “NAFA student exhibition” (2023) at the Chelsea College of Arts, London, as well as showcased collaborative work with her classmates in “An Allegory of Fourths” (2022) at NAFA and “Stories of Care (II)” (2022) at Assisi Hospice.

Koh Kai Ting is a socially engaged multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses installation, extended reality, printmaking, and painting. Her works have been showcased in solo and group exhibitions both locally and overseas. She was a recipient of the UOB Painting of the Year, Malaysia (2018); the Malaysian Emerging Artist Awards (MEA), Malaysia (2019); and the Mellow Art Award, Japan (2020). ​Koh has participated in and curated various socially engaged art projects, such as Ghetto Playground (2023), Bamboo Art Festival (2019) in Chengdu, and a year-long residency in Malaysia’s Pulau Ketam (2019). Her works have been collected by the Lim Lian Geok Foundation in Malaysia, Naresuan University in Phitsanulok, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology in North Bangkok, Thailand.

Krystal Choo Lin Ying is a student artist who is currently completing her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Her works are inspired by her love for fairytales, as well as her own experiences with grief and loss. By constructing a narrative through her drawings and illustrations, she can portray these themes, which are so personal yet universal, through a more magical, comforting and mystical experience.

Law Min Jun is a writer and illustrator based in Singapore. He was trained in Ngee Ann Polytechnic as an audio-visual technologist in 2018, and is currently pursuing a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. His main interest lies in writing fictional stories, namely his ongoing dialogue-novel series, “OZAPPA MANGA”, along with creating the series’ accompanying character art. Other elements of his practice include sound design, songwriting, voice-acting and video production.

Mirza Zuhairi Bin Zulkifle is a Singaporean artist. He graduated from Republic Polytechnic in 2018 with a Diploma in Media Production and Design. He is now completing his BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Mirza has a strong interest in technology, particularly computer hardware, and this interest was further strengthened after working in the consumer IT Industry in 2020.

Norica Binte Taslim is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Singapore who is currently pursuing her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Driven by a profound exploration of themes centering on womanhood, female rage, and personal experiences, Norica navigates through these subjects primarily through photography, illustration, and intermittent ventures into performance art. Norica hopes her work will serve as a testament to the transformative power of creativity and resilience, channeling the complexities of feminine identity with a poised authenticity. Through the lens of her art, she hopes to capture the raw emotional landscapes of womanhood, deftly intertwining vulnerability and strength within the tapestry of her narratives.

Nur Alya Binte Rahmat is currently completing her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Her works explore female identity and the concerns within the Malay-Muslim community, be they cultural or the supernatural, through speculative narratives and realities. Alya has presented her works in a student collaboration exhibition titled Imagining New Futures (2021) at Gillman Barracks in Singapore. She was a curator of the student-led exhibition Terra Incognita: The Alt Show (2022), as well as a curator and exhibitor in Downsizing: The Universe on a String (2024). Alya has worked as a Visual Arts intern at the National Arts Council (2021). She was awarded the NAFA Dean’s List Award twice (2020 and 2021). She was also a recipient of the Tan Chin Tuan Scholarship for Creative Education (2022-2023), The Woon Brothers’ Foundation Awards, as well as Anugerah Mendaki (2022). Alya’s work has since been featured in The Straits Times Life and her collaborative film, “Bawang Merah & Bawang Merah”, was awarded the quarter-finalist award at the Student Impact Film Festival, USA.

Renee Yeo Zhi Hui is a multi-disciplinary artist born and based in Singapore. She is currently a final-year student on the BA (Hons) Fine Art programme at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). Renee’s body of work encompasses art installations, photography and film. Her recent work has been exhibited in “Downsizing: the Universe on a String” at The Lim Hak Tai Gallery, as well as “FOAD co:Lab Exhibition” at The Ngee Ann Kong Si Gallery. Her works have also been showcased in the “NAFA X UAL Exhibition”̦ (2023) at Chelsea College of Arts (UAL) in the United Kingdom, “An Allegory of Fourths” (2022) at NAFA, and “Theoria, Poiesis, _” (2022) at Peace Centre, Singapore.

Sarita Maria Abeyesundere is a Singapore-based artist who was born in Sri Lanka. She recently graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, conferred by the University of the Arts London (UAL). Sarita is a recipient of the NAFA Talent Development Programme (2023-2024). She has curated exhibitions, worked in artist collectives as well as moderated for the ‘Southeast Asian Art Clinic X in conjunction with XEM: 5 Friends 10 Years Art Infinite’ (Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery, NAFA). Her practice encapsulates her experiences tying into larger social histories of her country, Sri Lanka. Her work, Threads of Life, has been exhibited at ‘Theoria, Poiesis, _’ (Peace Centre, 2022) and ‘Flagship Genius’ (The Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery, 2023). Her work For the Ash Remembers, created during the UAL study abroad programme, was showcased at the ‘NAFA x UAL’ exhibition (Chelsea College of Arts, London, 2023) as well alongside the exhibition ‘Walk, Strike, Action!’ (Selegie Arts Centre, Singapore).

Tammylyn Tuang is an artist and designer based in Singapore. Her practice spans digital, print, photography, painting and installation. She primarily explores the relationship between art and the themes of landscape, time and space. She recently graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, validated by the University of the Arts London, and was a recipient of The Ngee Ann Kongsi Scholarship from 2021 to 2024. She previously graduated from Temasek Polytechnic with a Diploma in Communication Design with Merit, majoring in image design. Her work has been exhibited in group shows at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery (2023), The Lim Hak Tai Gallery (2024), Selegie Arts Centre (2023) and The Morgue in the Chelsea College of Arts (2023).

Wan Oi Yin Nurul Hakimah is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Singapore with a current focus on photography and moving images. She is currently pursuing her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). Yin previously graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts from NAFA. She works with various mediums, ranging from paints to digital imagery, and touches on topics such as one’s dissonance with faith, and in relation to human connections, loss and death. Yin also practices the performing arts in music making with melodic percussions and percussion instruments. Yin has had experiences with art education, docent work, and graphic design. She has been part of Singapore Art Week, has photographed events, and was gallery trained with Pinacotheque de Paris (Singapore branch). She has also presented her works in multiple exhibitions and was also selected for N.E.mation, a total defence animation campaign. She was featured in the documentary Story of Our City 3D as an artist participant in the longest anamorphic pavement art.

Yu Jia Hui is a multi-disciplinary artist who engages with various mediums, with the current focus on photography and water. She has showcased her works recently, namely at “Downsizing: the Universe on a String” at The Lim Hak Tai Gallery, "Walk, Strike, Action!" at The Photographic Society of Singapore, as well as “FOAD co:Lab Exhibition” at The Ngee Ann Kong Si Gallery. Her works have also been showcased in the “NAFA X UAL Exhibition”̦ (2023) at Chelsea College of Arts (UAL) in the United Kingdom, “An Allegory of Fourths” (2022) at NAFA, and “Theoria, Poiesis, _” (2022) at Peace Centre, Singapore.

Zhang Runhan was born in Kunming, China, and has received an art education since childhood. She is currently studying at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. Zhang Runhan is currently researching interdisciplinary art, fusing different art disciplines into new artworks. Her current focus is on personal identity through an analysis of the “self”. She contemplates the fusion of traditional art forms and innovative concepts in the context of contemporary art.

Zhou Yuyan is a Singapore-based digital artist. She is currently pursuing her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, validated by the University of the Arts London (UAL). She has been greatly impacted by her lived experience in both China and Singapore. Her interests in life and death, existence and permanence can be found across her works. The concepts of impermanence and the fear of death have become important drives for her work, and she has been striving to advocate for better end-of-life education, especially during one’s childhood. Yuyan works mostly with digital media such as digital drawing, photography and videography. Yuyan’s work has been featured in several group shows, including ‘Theoria, Poeisis, __’ (2022) at Peace Centre, ‘NAFAxUAL Exhibition @ The Morgue’ (2023) at Chelsea College of Arts (UAL) as well as ‘Walk, Strike, Action’ (2023) at the Photographic Society of Singapore.
